January 3, 2019 0 By Robert "CodeBreaker" Cardenas Jr

2018 was jammed pack with great movies, Netflix originals, and awesome video games. We witnessed the first part of Avengers taking on Thanos, the friendly neighborhood spider open world game filled with cameos and Easter eggs. Netflix possibly finding the right stride for original movies, and maybe soon get nominated for an Oscar award. With 2018 behind us, let’s take a look at some of the things 2019 has in store for us.

Netflix – A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 3, January 1st

Netflix has done a superb job of bringing the books to life, and with season 3 being released on New Years Day fans can start binge watching and start the 2019 year following the story of the Baudelaire children. Hopefully it doesn’t end in a very unfortunate accident.

Netflix – Castlevania Season 3, TBA

The once popular video game, now turned into a animated series has been widely praised. Season 1 left the fans wanting more after only 4 episodes, and season 2 delivered. Now we can see what Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades will be faced with next. Let’s also not forget their once partner, Alucard.

Netflix – Punisher Season 2, January 18th

This one is still up in the air, but some recent talks might give fans some hope of at least seeing Punisher one more time before Disney starts their own streaming service. Arguably the most fan favorite superhero show Netflix has made. Lets just hope Netflix still has the chance to release it.

Netflix – Stranger Things Season 3, July 4th

The Stranger Things series was probably Netflix first successful original show. If not at least most popular. The streaming giant just announced season 3 will be dropping in the summer, July to be a little more specific. The first 2 seasons have not disappointed fans yet, lets see if that streak continues.

Cinema – Avengers: End Game, April 26th

After witnessing Thanos destroy half the universe with a single snap, we will get to see what some of our most beloved superheros will do to save the universe and undo the devastation. The movie is scheduled to be released at the end of April, and it can not get here soon enough.

Cinema – Shazam, April 5th

After the success of Aquaman, and what looks like a promising new look for the DC universe for movies, Shazam will be looking to continue that stride. The casting looks solid, and the origin of Shazam seems to be spot on. All we can hope and wait for now is if it will deliver.

Cinema – Godzilla: King of the Monsters, May 31st

The reboot Godzilla movie back in 2014 was the first step into making the monster universe. It was followed by Kong: Skull Island which is suppose to be part of that universe as well. Now we will see more monsters in this epic showdown. Godzilla is not the only beast living on planet earth, the question is more about, which ones are the “good” ones?

Cinema – Star Wars Episode IX, December

This will conclude the Skywalker story which starts back in episode 1. After this we will see a whole new trilogy, with a whole new story. We witnessed Luke Skywalker become one with the force, and Rey be the new era of Jedis yet to come. Still no light on who her parents are, and what Kylo Ren has planned this time now that he killed Snoke. Now let’s just see if we finally witness the balance of the force.

Video Game – Kingdom Hearts III, January 25th

A still very popular series now will get a third installment. Not counting mobile and hand held games. Fans are excited and have been waiting years for this game to come into the spotlight. Unfortunately Switch users will have to wait a bit longer to dive into the journey.

Video Game – Far Cry New Dawn, February 15th

The franchise still continues to bring out the big hits. This one is expected to be hunted down by a set of twins, looking to bring havoc on the land. Far Cry usually delivers in terms of gameplay, story, and action. Let’s see if that trend continues.

Video Game – Devil May Cry 5, March 8th

Another long-awaited sequel is finally arriving in 2019 to carry on a story that was left hanging years ago. Devil May Cry 5 will bring together main characters from the franchise. Sure fans are eager to get back into this popular hack and slash.

Video Game – The Last of us Part II, TBA

Sony has been real tight lipped on this one. So far all we know the game will be released late this year, and will continue the story of the first game back in 2013. There is also the mention of multiplayer which they are hoping draws in more players.

Plenty of more things to come for 2019 such as Toy Story 4, Lion King, Aladdin, Captain Marvel, The Division 2, Anthem, and so much more. This seems to be like a bigger year in terms of entertainment, yet so little time it seems like. Until next time nerds.
